Gold Rush Continues in 1500 Freestyle

Tokyo, Japan - American swimmer Katie Ledecky has secured her place among the greatest swimmers of all time, matching the record for the most Olympic medals won by a U.S. athlete with her victory in the 1500 freestyle final. With this gold medal, Ledecky now holds 12 Olympic medals, including seven golds and five silvers.

Ledecky's dominance in the 1500-meter event was evident from the start, as she led the race from the first lap. She finished in a time of 15 minutes, 30.02 seconds, more than 10 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

This latest triumph adds to Ledecky's already impressive resume. She has won seven Olympic gold medals, the most for any female swimmer in history, and 21 world championship titles. She also holds the world record in the 800-meter freestyle.
